An estimated 4 million people stand to have been affected by monsoon weather across South Asia. Heavy rains and flooding have caused widespread damage to homes and livestock. In 2019, over 25 million people were affected across this region and 600 lost their lives.
HHRD has launched its’ “South Asian Floods Relief” fund to provide immediate assistance with hot meals, medicines, clean drinking water, and shelter. Millions of people are at risk as monsoon conditions threaten lives and livelihoods.
This region is considered the most devastated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initial plans for July 2020 are to intervene in Bangladesh and India for floodrRelief efforts, with the possibility of responding in other countries in South Asia later on.

HHRD Emergency Response team members, along with local vetted partner NGOs, have begun providing emergency relief items to families affected by the monsoon. They are doing their best to visit hard to reach areas to ensure needs are being met. As conditions worsen, we ask that you keep these victims in your prayers.

An estimated 1.5 million are at immediate risk as rising waters inundate and damage homes, roads, educational institutions, and crop fields with water levels of all major rivers in upper Meghna basin, Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Gages basins rising.
