Libya and Tunisia: Medical Centers on the Rise
Wednesday, June 29, 2011
|
With hundreds of wounded refugees daily making their way out of Libya into neighboring Tunisia the humanitarian crisis is still on the rise. Tent hospitals are being erected by HHRD to cater to these victims as well as the establishment of more solid health centers to appease the large numbers. HHRD continues its request for any and all health care professional and medical staff to volunteer their time in the region to word alongside its current staff. We pray the healing of these physical scars can also one day heal the emotional scars as well.
With a total of 8.8 million children dying under the age of 5 every year, as stated by WHO, HHRD has focused its Mother and Child program on reducing this number. Moreover, it focuses on reducing infant, neonatal and maternal moralities while providing skilled birth assistants. These services coupled with the proper education on family planning, medical consultations, and expanding immunization all facilitate the necessary steps towards making this project as success.
