Physical Rehabilitation
 
HHRD has a distinguished history of advancing and delivering physical rehabilitation services in disaster areas. It has established two Physical Rehabilitation Centers in Muzaffarabad and Mansehra Pakistan for the victims of historic earthquake of 2005.

A team of physical rehabilitation professionals cares for the patients suffering from amputations & other disabling conditions such as cerebral palsy, polio, stroke, head injuries, fractures, TEV`s spinal injuries, and similar congenital anomalies and deformities are also treated. These are the pioneer health care centers of this nature in the entire region. There were no comparable facilities available for people with disabilities, even prior to the October 8th, 2005 earthquake. Please donate now to this valuable program of HHRD.

Services Provided:

The Physical Rehabilitation Program focuses on serving patients with disabilities by providing the following services:

    Physiotherapy

    Occupational therapy

    Orthotics/Prosthetics

Number of Beneficiaries until May 2011:

    Physiotherapy …………….11,700

    Occupational therapy …..750

    Orthotics/ prosthetics ….3,600

Total number of patients…………..16,000

Total number of follow up visit…..81,000

Helping Hand Institute of Physical Rehabilitation & Medical Sciences:

Since 2009, "Helping Hand Institute of Physical Rehabilitation & Medical Sciences (HHIRM)” in Mansehra has been providing well-trained & skilled paramedical personnel to the health sector.

Total of 49 students got admission at 50% subsidized admission fees in the following 2-year paramedical courses.:

    Physiotherapy (2)

    Radiology (1)

    Lab Technology (6)

    Health Technology (38)

    Dental Technology (2)

HHRD also provided students with library, museum (containing a large collection of human body part-models such as bone/ joint skeletons which are used in learning process) and hostel facilities. Please donate now to this valuable program of HHRD.
